Mondays are always a bitch. I have a total of 6 hours worth of class. Industrial Revolution with Declan, and Contemporary Britain with Justin. Weeee hoo. In Declan's class we talked a lot about the slave trade and whether or not it was the main contributor of funds to Britain's industrial revolution. It's pretty interesting. In Justin's class we discussed more about the government and watched a couple videos dealing with the Prime Minister's question time. Every Wednesday, the PM (Gordon Brown at the moment) is required to come before the House of Commons and succomb to questions from his party, the opposing side, and the opposing side's leader for a total of one hour. I love the idea of having question time once a week for the head of state (although the PM technically isn't the head of state...that's the Queen). It holds the leader accountable for his actions. Wouldn't it have been wonderful if G.W.Bush's colleagues got to grill him for an hour about what the hell he was thinking? The session is full of people yelling, standing, waving papers, and having a grand ol' time.
After chilling for awhile back at home after class, Liz, Rainier, and I went to the union and got a pint to do a little catching up. We haven't hung out with Rainier much, so it was great to have a flamboyant time with him. He's our Jamaican gay friend on the trip. We chatted, had fun, and then Max (imperial friend) joined us and we gossiped about him sort of dating Jeanette, a girl on our trip. Awww how cute. Meanwhile, Jak (the guy Liz is sort of dating) and his friends were getting their drink on and then later we're heading out with them to Cheapskates. On Mondays, cover is 1 pound with 1 pound drinks. Sounds like a STEAL!
There was some drama getting to Cheapskates, Liz left in a car without me and Rainier, I got pissed off, Rainier convinced me to go anyway, and there we were. Rainier and I waiting in line. Like the kind people we are, we didn't want to wait in line, so we cut, got in, and started DANCING! We didn't really see Liz, but Rainier and I were having a ball. Except...when you're dancing with a guy, he's kind of a cock block, especially if he's gay. Needless to say, I didn't meet any men, but Rainier was certainly getting hit on by the boys! Wtf!
Towards the end, we met the manager of the Soho bar next door, he gave us a free beer, invited us for free drinks at his bar (we said no...we had class the next morning :[ ), and said he loved Rainier's dancing. Because Rainier is Jamaican, he's got some shexy moves! When we tried to catch the N9 back, the first to stops from Picadilly were not in service so we had to walk to Green Park to catch up to the 9's detour. Sucess. After chatting with a lovely Slovenian girl trying to learn English, we made it home.
